The History of Football

Association football, also known as just football, is a popular international team sport played between two contrasting teams of eleven players each. It is played by over 250 million players in more than 200 different countries and dependencies, which make it the most popular game in the world. This game was first known as “football” in England and Europe before it got its title from the French people.

This sport is a way of recreation for many people across the world, especially those who can’t find the time to watch a live match on TV. It can also be a great way to strengthen friendships and family ties since it requires so little equipment and no special attire, apart from the football boots that players usually wear. Many countries have their own national football league and even play football internationally, such as England, who are currently hosting the world cup this summer. The English game is hugely popular among fans all over the world, which is why this tournament is so important for the English Footballers.

Another major part of football is the refereeing, which usually works with a white ball that travels at a slow pace and uses a whistle to call the fouls or dismiss the players if needed. Each side has eleven players on each side, while the goal is represented by the center forward and goalkeeper. Soccer is played on an artificial turf, which has a liquid soap solution in it that helps the ball travel faster. Although football can be played with only eleven players, the sport has a much longer history than that of basketball and was actually invented much earlier, back in the late eighteen hundreds.
