An Introduction To A Few Different Types Of Football
Association football, also known as just football, is a professional team sport usually played between two teams of eleven players. It is played throughout the world by about 250 million players in more than 200 different countries and dependencies. The most common game played in association football is the ordinary league or cup tournament; this is followed by the inter-national and super international tournaments. Most countries have their own unique style and terminology for playing this game.
A normal football pitch has nine vertical markers out from which the ball is placed. These marks are placed either on the pitch itself or on the grass surrounding the pitch. A goal can only be scored when the ball crosses one of the markers that is line with the side goal post or is at least a foot over the markers. Goals are usually scored when the ball is carried by the forwards towards their opponents goal using a ball which has been pushed ahead of them by an outfield player. In normal circumstances, a corner kick is allowed to take place where the ball is brought into the area diagonally from the halfway line but this is not always the case in some countries.
There are two other variations of football; American football, which is played in the United States and Australian football, which is played in Australia. Aussies prefer to play American football because it is faster and more exciting than Australian rules which they view as slow and boring. However, football can be played with a round ball and this is usually referred to as soccer. Some people believe that soccer is played between two teams while others believe that it can be played with three teams on each end of the field.
